What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy, also known as the Bowen Technique, or Bowenwork, is a holistic, non-invasive, and gentle form of bodywork that aims to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms. It was developed by Australian therapist Tom Bowen in the 1950s. It involves a series of gentle, rolling movements over specific points on the body, usually performed using the therapist’s fingers and thumbs. These movements are applied with a light touch and can be done through light clothing. The technique is based on the concept that subtle inputs to the body can initiate a cascade of healing responses via the fascia and mechanoreceptors as a way of affecting multiple body systems.

“I’m very happy to have completed Bowen courses. It’s a good self-skill investment to have, especially at my age now. It helps me to have more self-awareness and at the same time helping others too. Studying Bowen therapy under Christos and Jiva is definitely a joyful experience. It’s a lifelong learning. Thank you.”
